Following growing concerns about Facebook’s lack of care towards privacy of their users, a few thousand people started a movement known as “quit facebook day”. They hoped that a few million people would set aside one day to not use facebook at all, as a kind of protest against the company.

But well under 2% of the USA population participated in the event. In fact, in a recent survey conducted, only 11% of people had actually heard of quit facebook day. Of those, only 22% had actually planned to take part in it.

These results confirm something we had already suspected: that facebook is simply too large to fail and people are already way too dependent on it.

The BP Oil Spill has caused outrage among the media and consumers alike. As much as BP has tried to put the blame on everyone else, it’s their responsibility and their fault that this horrible thing happened. Thousands of dead sea animals and millions of dollars of damage caused should not go unpunished.

We’re personally sick of seeing big corporations get away with things like this. So, without further adue, here are 6 things we feel should happen:

1. Make BP Pay Up – And Big

Congressional democrats are doing all they can to ensure that BP, rather than taxpayers, pays the bill to clean up the mess. They are trying to get BP’s civil liability limit up to $10 billion, up from just $75 million (the reality is that 75 mill doesn’t cover all the damaged caused). BP could end up being fined tens of billions of dollars.

2. Cancel all its government contracts

Voiding all of BP’s contracts with the federal government for their criminal actions over the last few years does not seem unreasonable. This would stop them from drilling on public land, costing them billions of dollars in lost revenue.

3. Shut Down The Company entirely

Probably the best option.

4. Boycott BP

Many people have resolved never to purchase any end product that BP had produced. Millions have already joined facebook groups against BP.

5. Put the executives in jail

6. Execute CEO Tony Hayward

Glenn Beck is under heavy fire for his speech and comments regarding Barack Obama’s daughter, Malia. The controversal talk show host, who is well experienced in fighting negative press, commented about Malia’s ignorance when it came to the BP oil spill.

Malie reportedly asked her father “did you plug the hole yet, daddy” which Beck immediately jumped on, claiming that it was an example of the childs ignorance and lack of education.

The white house and many previous fans of Beck are not amused.

Going further, Beck took his attacks to a racial point. He asked his stage hand, who was impersonating Barack Obama, why he disliked black people so much. To which the man posing as Obama said: “because I’m part white!”

Personally, all of us here are anxiously awaiting the day when Glenn Beck is removed from the air by force.

Louise Bourgeois, a legendary painter and sculptor, passed away last night. She was 98 years old.

Bourgois was well known for her abstract, often controversial pieces of artwork that would inspire many other artists (especially young women).

Her sculptures were often made of metal, wood or rubber and would often use an emotionally agressive theme. Underlying all of her work, however, was the idea that the fragile human body had a need for nurture and care in a dangerous world.

Her most popular works include “Nature Study” (1984) and “Fillette” (1968).

BREAKING NEWS: ASUS has just announced its latest and greatest product, the so called “Eee Pad” (don’t ask us where that name came from) at the Computex Taipei trade show. The product will be in direct competition with the HP Slate and Apple iPad.

There are two models the Eee Pad will be released in, the EP121 (with a 12 inch screen, USB and Windows 7), and the EP101TC (which has a 10 inch screen and runs onWindows Embedded Compact 7).

The price for the Eee Pad is said to be $400-500 at launch, which will be slightly more expensive than an iPad. By the time this thing is actually brought to the market, it’s likely that iPad prices will be down from now, further widening the pricing gap.

Some also say that a 12 inch screen is too big. Users have described the iPad’s 10 inch screen as chuncky and not easily portable. Although ASUS is trying to advertise the Eee Pad as “small, light and sleek” it seems that it might be a fair bit heavier than the iPad (although we can’t be sure until we get our hands on a working prototype).

Also, the ASUS will only run Windows, and will not support functionality for Android or Chrome OS.

It is estimated that the Eee Pad will be launched in about 7 months from now.

Regardless of what John Gotti Jr is charged with, he always seems to get away scot-free. Gotti Jr, son of John Gotti, was something of a legend in the 1990’s crime scene. He was involved in the Gambino crime family for many years.

The Gotti and Gambino families have operated for decades and are characterised by their liking of expensive clothing and ‘travelling in style’. By also hiring extremely good lawyers, they are able to evade any lawsuits. It is indeed rare to see a member of their family ever go to prison.
