A whopping 90% of males say that they talk about football with their friends, when questioned in a worldwide survey. Talk of wives and girlfriends came in at 45%, while only about 1 in 3 males say they talk about work with friends.
This is certainly not the news that women want to hear. However, it does show that men do think about things other than sex.
The poll was sponsored by Heineken International.
Surprisingly, soccer was found to be a most popular topic of conversation in China and Russia, where 93% of men discuss soccer with friends.
In Germany and France, the results were slightly different again. Work was the second most popular conversation topic, with women coming in at third place.
But as one might imagine, England is the most enthusiastic about football. A survey there revealed that men watch almost 2.5 hours of football per week, and spend more time afterwards discussing the games. This is more than anywhere else in the world.
Brazil came in second with a distant 92 minutes of average football watching each week.
Meanwhile in South Africa, it was found that around one in five men watch football in groups of 10 or more. In most other countries the majority of viewers watch the games in smaller groups.
The survey spanned many countries including the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Russia, Thailand, Ireland, China, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa and the Netherlands.
The results of the survey once again prove that the world is obsessed with football.
