The recent competition launched to win a free HP Slate is about to close soon, sources say. The competition owners plan on giving away several Slate’s once HP finally releases the new gadget to the public (whenever that may be). The Slate, which is expected to cost around $500 when it is launched, will be in direct competition with the Apple iPad.

Viral Socialite News has been in contact with the company hosting the competition and has verified that they are legitimately going to give several units away when the HP Slate comes out.

The HP Slate, due to be released by HP later this year or early 2011, is gaining a lot of interest. To help fans get a copy, a new contest has been launched. All that’s required to enter is an email address.
